Collagen is a protein that is the building block of skin, cartilage matrix (95%) and connective tissue. NUTRIVI COLLAGEN BOOSTER contains 200 mg of Lyophilized fish collagen in each capsule.
(*) What is Lyophilization? Lyophilization and freeze drying are synonymous. Lyophilization is a water removal process typically used to preserve perishable materials, or to extend shelf life. The typical Lyophilization process works by freezing the material, then reducing the pressure and adding heat to allow the frozen water in the material to evaporate. However, heat destroys the bio-active collagen, so the collagen for NUTRIVI COLLAGEN BOOSTER is extracted using a patented cold process.
Collagen extracted from fish skins contains an exceptionally high amount of “signal peptides”. A signal peptide directs the protein where it should go. Signal peptides function to prompt a cell to translocate the protein, usually to the cellular membrane. Peptides are short strings of amino acids that make up proteins.
NUTRIVI’s process of extracting water from the raw material using the freeze-drying method without using heat causes the least change in its bio-active internal structure. The freeze-dried cells form a porous structure and the cavities absorb moisture quickly when placed in water. This is particularly important for fish collagen, which contains delicate signal peptides.
